Review:
By Ute
Summary:
This sequel to the wildly popular 1999 movie Shrek follows the main characters Fiona, voiced by Cameron Diaz, and Shrek, voiced by Mike Myers on their honeymoon and subsequent meeting with Fiona?s parents. As one might expect, Fiona?s parents are less than pleased that their daughter has chosen to marry an ogre, and actually go so far as to hire a hit man, Puss in Boots voiced by Antonio Banderas, to rectify the situation.
Why You Should See This Movie:
This is most definitely one of the better sequels of all time, in fact, it probably surpassed the first installment both in entertainment value as well as box office ticket sales. The above mentioned characters as well as the donkey, voiced by Eddie Murphy, all turn in superb performances. The characters are able to retain the charm from the first movie while staying fresh and interesting in this one. The movie is very entertaining and does not have any noticeable slow spots. I didn?t notice a huge difference from the first movie in terms of computer effects, but they were top notch and incredibly detailed. As with most sequels the actual story seems like an afterthought, but it was interesting enough to not take anything away from the movie.
Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
None, this is a fabulous movie that is fun and entertaining for the entire family. My only rating that isnt 5 stars is for the effects. Although they were incredible I kind of thought they should have been improved since the first film several years ago, but they didnt seem to be much different.
Conclusion:
Shrek 2 is a definite must see in the theater for anyone at all interested in movies.
